The farm and the farmers

As the name tells it all; our farm is situated almost entirely on a Hillside above the Fraser River, with a few flat benches in between where most of the action and buildings are concentrated. The elevation difference within the 140 acres of the parcel seems to promote a lot of variety in the plants growing wild here and we do very much value this and try to preserve it. It is lightly treed and makes grazing for our handful of cows that provide us with joy and their products. They also contribute to the size of the compost pile which is an important ingredient to the garden soil.

We are Franzi Dutoit and Renato Giacometti, a couple with adult children that follow other passions, so we are the main owners and workers on the farm. During the high season we get the help of a hired hand. We have an agricultural background and roots in Switzerland and this supports our approach to the practices that we apply in market gardening and farming.

Growing healthy food for us and for other people and maintain healthy soils and the environment is very important to us. We have (and still are) built this place up from the ground with our own hands since 2015 when we purchased it. We are very grateful for it to be our home, life and work. The farm is powered by a solarsystem. Our farm and products are certified organic through North Okanagan Organic Association (NOOA) since 2017.
